In view of the on-going conflicts among the 73 sects of Islam, how can one be sure that he or she has found the Straight Path that leads to the Garden of Paradise? Is there any difference between the original Islam (which Prophet Abraham promoted) and the traditional Islam that we now see?
The Noble Qur'an speaks of an Iman ('Faith") Allah has chosen for the children of Abraham. Being his descendants through Isaac and Ishmael, Christians and Muslims, respectively, are supposed to have one and the same Iman. It is the will of Allah that the two lines of descendants should form a united ummah ("community") of Hanif ("true") believers. But Satan works continually to separate and cause them to hate each other. It is Satan's agenda that Muslims declare a jihad ("holy war") against Christians. It is also Satan's agenda that Christians organize a crusade to fight the Muslims. Satan likewise stirs up the Jews to fight the Arabs many of which are Muslims in defense of Israel. It is interesting to note that each of these three groups claims that Abraham is their spiritual father. As brethren they are supposed to love and respect each other. But each has a religion which is exclusive in nature.
There is only one religion for all the children of Abraham. Allah said to Muhammad (pbuh): "Follow the religion of Abraham the sane in Faith; he was not of the Pagans." Ali-I-Imran 3:95. As we near the Judgment Day, let us join the ranks of Hanif believers that promote Abraham's religion.
